Into the Field
When
going into the field to shoot I try to pack only the equipment that I
am going to need based on the circumstances. I always try to pack as
lightly as possible. It is easy to get bogged down with gear. A typical
setup for me includes a small shoulder bag, extra batteries and memory
cards, a few filters, a large lens of 300mm, a wide angle
lens, and
my macro lens. With those 3 lenses I can get shots of almost anything
and I find I am not bogged down with equipment. I almost never go
anywhere without the macro. I have found that I can always find an
interesting subject for the macro lens.
When shooting indoors I will take my flash and tripod but I really prefer shooting with natural light. The sun is always the best bet for well lit subjects even though it doesn't always cooperate.
